Hipoglucemia ¿Qué es y cómo resolverla?

La hipoglucemia es una condición que se caracteriza por niveles bajos de glucosa en la sangre (anormales), usualmente menos de 70 mg/dl. Sin embargo, es importante hablar con el profesional de la salud que lo atiende sobre sus niveles de azúcar en la sangre, y determinar cuáles son sus niveles normales o bajos.
EN CASO DE UNA HIPOGLUCEMIA SEVERA GLUCAGÓN
El glucagón es una hormona producida por el páncreas y su liberación está regulada, principalmente, por los niveles de glucosa en sangre. Niveles bajos de glucosa, estimulan su liberación.
En una persona sin diabetes que presenta una hipoglucemia, el glucagón permite liberar la glucosa que está almacenada en el hígado y de esta forma elevar los niveles en sangre, sin embargo, en el caso de diabetes tipo 1 esta función también se encuentra alterada.
Es por lo anterior que en el mercado existe glucagón para poder ser administrado en los casos de hipoglucemia severa en donde la persona pierde el conocimiento, tiene convulsiones o es incapaz de comer carbohidratos para resolverlo por sí mismo.
En México contamos con glucagón inyectable.
